The drip acclimation kit includes all plastic components so that it won’t break down over time. The parts include 5 feet of tubing, a needle valve, a clamp and a weighted base. We included 5 feet of tubing which may be in excess so you can always cut it down to what you really need. The needle valve can be adjusted to a very slow drip when precision is needed. The weighted base is made of plastic and can be taken apart so that it can be cleaned if needed. The clamp will help hold the needle valve end in place on your container.
How to use:
1) Open the needle valve (so that you can blow air through it).
2) Submerge the whole kit under water in your fish tank starting from the weighted base and then slowly dropping the hose in your tank allowing the fish tank water to slowly fill up the hose and push out all the air until you fill the hose with water at the needle valve.
3) Once all the air in the hose has been replaced with your fish tank water, close the needle valve (turning the knob to the right to tighten) and then you can take the hose and needle valve out of your tank while always keeping the end of the hose with the weighted base in your tank water.
4) Make sure that the container that you want to drip water in is mid hight or lower than your main tank that you are getting water from. The water will drain out from the hose by gravity.
5) Adjust the needle valve to the drip rate you want but opening or closing the valve.
The longer and slower you drip acclimate your animals the better it is especially if the water parameters in the fish bag is very different from your fish tank water.
