Ensuring an ideal environment for healthy fish requires understanding what your water parameters are, to do so you need the proper tools. When a new tank is established, there will typically be an ammonia spike, followed by a nitrite spike, then ending with the final product of the nitrogen cycle, nitrates. When you don’t have any ammonia and nitrites and are only left with nitrates, then your tank is considered cycled. Avoid introducing fish into a tank with high levels of ammonia or nitrites as they are toxic to fish and shrimps.
