Paramecium live fish food culture

Great live tiny foods for your new born fish fry. When you need to feed infusoria to your fry and baby brine shrimp or microworms are too large, paramecium will do the trick.

Availability: In Stock

Price: $10 for starter culture, $8 for Paramecium food.

In each starter culture, you will receive 100ml of live paramecium culture. This will be enough for you to start your own colony and keep going.

Paramecium are great first foods for egg scatters such as danios, barbs, and tetras. Often these fish are too small to eat baby brine shrimp or micro worms when newly hatched and free swimming so a great live food for them would be infusoria. Paramecium are one of those micro organisms which fall into that category and are easy to keep.

To culture the paramecium, you’d need to make the paramecium medium by boiling food ingredients for 10-15 minutes and allow to cool to room temperature. When boiled food media is at room temperature, you can add some of your starter culture and allow a few days for the paramecium to grow. You will notice that the bottle media will become cloudy with tiny white specs. Upon closer inspection you will notice that the specs are paramecium. You can pour out the paramecium into your fry tank or use a turkey baster to suck up and feed to your fry.

We do have paramecium food available at $8 a pack. Each pack will make up 5 litres of paramecium food. Please contact us for more details.
